13 times in a row: Adventist Health Bakersfield nationally recognized with ‘A’ Leapfrog Safety Grade
Adventist Health Bakersfield earned its 13th consecutive “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog that sets standards for excellence in patient care. Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.
“We are honored to be part of a nationally recognized group of elite hospitals who have been earning consecutive “A” grades in safety since 2017.” says Jason Wells, President of the Central California Network. “We are committed to providing the best care from the top-rated in quality hospital in our region. This past July, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced Adventist Health Bakersfield as the highest-rated hospital in the Central Valley. We are honored to be recognized by both CMS and the Leapfrog Group for our leading quality performance in Kern County. I am so proud of our entire care team and their dedication to quality, which is reflected in our 13th straight “A” in a row.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program exclusively based on hospital prevention of medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day nationally. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually in the fall and spring.
“Earning an ‘A’ Grade means Adventist Health Bakersfield made a true commitment to put patients first,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We congratulate the leadership, Board, clinicians, staff and volunteers that all had a role to play in this achievement.”
