Adventist Health Ukiah Valley Receives an ‘A’ for Patient Safety for the Spring 2019 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade
Ukiah, CA, May 29, 2019 – Adventist Health Ukiah Valley (AHUV) recently celebrated an ‘A’ from The Leapfrog Group’s spring 2019 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade. Receiving an “A” grade, ranks Adventist Health Ukiah Valley among the safest hospitals in the United States demonstrating a commitment to reducing errors, infections and accidents that can harm patients.
The Leapfrog Group assesses numerous patient safety measures including low infection rates, patient falls, preventable complications from surgery as well as high leadership engagement, clear communication of medication administration, staffing levels and provider communication. The performance measures included in this assessment offer a well-rounded safety grade for hospitals across the nation putting AHUV in the top tier.

The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit organization committed to improving health care quality and safety for consumers and purchasers. The Safety Grade assigns an ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’, ‘D’ or ‘F’ grade to hospitals across the country based on their performance in preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections and other harms to patients in their care.

Developed under the guidance of a national Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. acute-care hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.
