Adventist Health Tulare hosts community open house to celebrate opening of Birth Center

Adventist Health Tulare is pulling back the curtains on its newly refreshed birth center to give the community a preview of things to come when new parents arrive at the hospital to deliver their babies.

A community open house will be held from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2019, in the lobby of Adventist Health Tulare, 869 N. Cherry St., and includes tours of the Birth Center, a Tulare births timeline, refreshments, entertainment, games, prizes and a Diaper Derby for our youngest guests.

“This past year has been filled with breathing new life into this hospital, and nothing speaks more directly to that than opening our Birth Center,” says Adventist Health Tulare President Randy Dodd. “We’re just very excited to have that begin here again in this Tulare community.”

The Birth Center received a design refresh with new flooring, a new infant security system and new equipment, which includes labor and delivery beds, fetal monitors and related medical equipment. Department upgrades in total are valued at $1.3 million. The new Birth Center has 11 patient rooms, two triage beds and an infant nursery.

Visitors to the open house can have their photos taken with the Adventist Health mascot, Pip, the Playful Penguin, tour the Birth Center and meet the obstetrics team, cheer on Diaper Derby participants and write congratulatory messages to new Tulare moms and babies. The team also will share a video highlighting staff and community members who were born at the Tulare hospital.

Community members with babies who are still in the crawling stage are encouraged to bring them to the open house to participate in a fun Diaper Derby. More information will be available at the event for those interested.

The birth center is scheduled to open on Monday, Aug. 19, 2019. More information on the first baby born at the Tulare hospital will be provided as soon as it is available.
