Adventist Health Castle recognized with new honor from U.S. News & World Report
The healthcare system is under a microscope right now, so when a hospital wins an award of recognition, it’s even more honorable. HI Now host Kanoe Gibson spoke with Adventist Health Castle President Kathy Raethel about the new honor from U.S. News & World Report.
U.S. News & World Report just recently released its 2020 – 2021 Best Hospitals rankings, and the 31st edition includes special recognition of the efforts by the nation’s health professionals who are stepping up during COVID-19, leaving many at great personal risk.
“This is a publication that’s been evaluating hospitals for 31 years, and they identify hospitals based on best practices in specialty areas,” Raethel explains.
Adventist Health Castle was recognized in three areas: Orthopedic surgery, repair of an aortic aneurysm, and for patient experience and engagement.
“We have to tell government agencies and other agencies how we’re doing. We have to report things that go wrong, things that go right,” Raethel begins. “And so they look at all of that publicly reported data and they dissect it different ways.”
Adventist Health Castle was also recognized by Newsweek as one of the top 200 maternity hospitals in the country.
“We try to be a really family oriented experience — a really positive experience,” says Raethel. “There are 1,100 people who work here at Adventist Health Castle, and I really have come to see them as my ohana. They’re just really amazing people.”
