Coronavirus information for patients and visitors
The care and safety of our patients and staff are top priorities at Adventist Health in the Central Valley.
Our facilities have robust infectious disease protocols in place and are following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines for the prevention of coronavirus, a respiratory illness caused by a novel (new) coronavirus first identified in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China.
The CDC maintains that the risk to Americans is low due to the limited ability of the virus to spread from person-to-person and continues to monitor the situation.
Symptoms of coronavirus can include:
- Runny nose
- Headache
- Fever
- Cough
- Sore throat
- Shortness of breath
If you recently traveled to or from China and have the above symptoms, please contact your local health department and call your healthcare provider before visiting their office. The CDC believes symptoms of the coronavirus may appear in as few as two days or as long as 14 days after exposure.
Ways to avoid catching any virus include:
- Washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Avoiding touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Getting a flu shot (for everyone six months and older).
- Avoiding close contact with people who are sick.
- Staying home when you are sick.
- Covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces.
The CDC is closely monitoring the situation. For more information about the coronavirus, visit https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html
