Adventist Health Ukiah Valley receives A safety rating for the third time

Adventist Health Ukiah Valley was awarded an A in the spring 2020 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, a national distinction recognizing Adventist Health Ukiah Valley’s achievements in providing safer health care. The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization committed to healthcare quality and safety.

Leapfrog Hospital safety grades assign A, B, C, D and F letter grades to hospitals nationwide and are updated every six months, assessing how well the hospital prevents medical errors and other harms to patients.

This is the third consecutive A rating for Adventist Health Ukiah Valley, having earned it the first time in the spring of 2019.

“Now more than ever, the safety of our patients is our utmost priority,” says Jason Wells, president for Adventist Health in Mendocino County. “I’m proud of the entire team for this incredible accomplishment, especially given the critical demands of the COVID-19 pandemic. This recognition speaks to their incredible resilience and dedication to delivering high quality patient outcomes.

The top-grade safety ranking ““should give our community members confidence that our facilities are well-positioned from a safety perspective and are ready for their healthcare needs both today and for the future,” explains Wells.

Developed under the guidance of a national Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses up to 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. acute-care hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.

For its Spring 2020 grades, the Leapfrog Group rated 2,627 general acute-care hospitals, 867 of which earned an A, 661 hospitals earned a B, 905 earned a C, 176 earned a D and 13 earned an F.
