Adnaan Edun, BSc, MSc, MD, joins Adventist Health Medical Office - Tulare
TULARE – Adventist Health Medical Office – Tulare is pleased to welcome to its staff board-certified family medicine physician Adnaan Edun, BSc, MSc, MD. In addition to preventative care, such as wellness checks, physicals, health counseling and more, he treats patients with chronic and complex conditions, including obesity, hypertension and depression.
Growing up, Edun became interested in pursuing a career in healthcare as he watched his mother continue to increase her nursing knowledge by studying at home. That interest was solidified when he had open heart surgery.
“I saw healthcare through a different lens,” he said. “That experience really shaped my desire to study medicine.”
As an undergraduate, Edun earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology at York University in Toronto. During his time at York, he participated in a certificate athletic training program and was an athletic therapist for the varsity track and field team. He then received a master’s degree in hyperbaric medicine and his medical degree from SABA University of Medicine in Saba, Dutch Caribbean. He completed his residency in family medicine at Mercy Health Grand Rapids in Michigan.
“Practicing medicine is one of the most rewarding experiences I have had,” he said. “I believe patients are the experts of their body, not me, and it’s our job to work together to understand how we can make healthier choices to live the healthiest life possible.”
Edun has a passion for rural and global medicine. He has participated in medical trips to Peru, Guatemala and Kenya and hopes to continue to share his healthcare knowledge with other underserved communities in the future.
When not caring for patients, he enjoys spending time with his wife and following his favorite basketball teams. Other interests include hiking, kayaking, rock climbing and playing sports.
Edun is accepting new patients and may be reached at Adventist Health Medical Office – Tulare, located at 2059 Hillman St., in Tulare. More information and appointments are available by calling 559-605-0090.
