Orthopedic surgeon Jun Kim, DO, MMS, joins Adventist Health Medical Office - Tulare

TULARE – Adventist Health is pleased to welcome fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon Jun Kim, DO, MMS, to the medical staff at Adventist Health Medical Office – Tulare. Specializing in adult total joint reconstruction surgery of the hip and knee, he treats a range of orthopedic issues such as arthritis, meniscus tears, fractures and failed hip and knee replacements.

He was inspired to pursue medicine as a career after watching his father suffer a painful, torn Achilles tendon while playing basketball.

“I was amazed at his recovery after surgery and just how quickly he was able to get back to playing sports,” he said.

Kim earned his doctor of osteopathy degree from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, graduating in the top 10 percent of his class and receiving the President’s Award for outstanding service to the university. He also earned a master’s degree in medical science from Drexel University in Philadelphia and bachelor’s degree in molecular, cell and developmental biology from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Additionally, Kim completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Corvallis, Oregon, and adult reconstruction fellowship at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston Salem, North Carolina.

During his career, he has been an active member of several clinical research investigative teams and given back to his profession and community through training and presentations. He also spent time in Anchorage, Alaska, with the Shriners Hospital for Children Outreach Clinic providing pediatric orthopedic care to patients in need.

Kim and his wife soon will celebrate 10 years of marriage and are the proud parents of three children, with another on the way. His interests include spending time with his family, movies and watching and playing sports, including basketball and volleyball.
