Adventist Health Ukiah Valley Welcomes Two New Pharmacy Residents

June 14, 2022 (Ukiah, CA) – Adventist Health Ukiah Valley is pleased to announce that two new pharmacy residents will be joining our team on June 27.

The Adventist Health Ukiah Valley Postgraduate Year One (PGY-1) Pharmacy Residency Program was established in 2019 and awarded full accreditation by the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP) in 2020. This 12-month program builds on the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) Education to foster development of comprehensive clinical practice skills preparing residents to excel in a variety of practice settings. Since the establishment of this program, eight pharmacists have matched to our residency program.

“We’re thrilled to welcome these new pharmacists to our team,” said Jerry Gonzalez, director of pharmacy at Adventist Health Ukiah Valley. “Our Pharmacy Residency Program not only provides practical hands-on experience for pharmacists to continue their careers, but also brings great value to the community.”

Michael Kim obtained his PharmD degree from Touro University California and holds a B.S. in Genetics from University of California, Davis. Michael was born in Los Angeles and has traveled around the United States and out of the country for schooling. In his free time, he enjoys conducting research experiments, traveling, photography and enjoys experiencing diversity in his daily life. He’s eager to join the team and looking forward to being a part of our community.

Angela Van also completed her PharmD degree from Touro University California and obtained a B.S. in Human Biology at University of California, Merced. Angela was born and raised in Sacramento and in her enjoys hiking, exploring new coffee shops, traveling, playing board and card games, and spending time with her friends, family and two dogs. She is excited to continue developing as a clinician and looking forward to joining the Ukiah Valley team as she explores her clinical interest in oncology.

Since this program has begun, several graduate residents have gone on to obtain board certification in pharmacotherapy and all are practicing as clinical pharmacists in a variety of inpatient settings.
