Catch Up on Your Child’s Immunizations
Children 5 and older are now eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine to protect them against serious illness, hospitalization and death. Adventist Health in the Central Valley has been proud to offer the vaccine to hundreds of children through medical offices and community vaccination events.
While COVID-19 vaccines may still be in the spotlight, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) stress the importance of continuing to vaccinate children against other diseases, such as DTaP and MMR, during the pandemic.
According to the CDC, well-child visits and recommended vaccinations are essential and help make sure children stay healthy. Children who are not protected by vaccines are more likely to get diseases like measles and whooping cough. If your child has missed an appointment or vaccination, it’s time to get caught up!
Adventist Health in the Central Valley recognizes the importance of following childhood and adolescent immunization schedules. Recently, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and the AAP recognized Adventist Health Medical Office – Parlier for outstanding achievement in immunizing 2-year-olds. The medical office is the fifth Adventist Health facility to receive a certificate of achievement from the Vaccines for Children Program. Others include medical offices in Avenal, Huron and Reedley.
