Adventist Health Ukiah Valley Recognized for Excellence in Maternity Care, Opioid Stewardship and Patient Safety

News, Awards & Recognition

September 13, 2022 (Ukiah, CA) — Adventist Health Ukiah Valley hospital is pleased to be one of only nine hospitals in California to have achieved all three honor rolls produced by Cal Hospital Compare for excellence in maternity care, opioid stewardship and patient safety. Cal Hospital Compare releases three hospital honor rolls annually to accelerate hospital progress, recognize and celebrate hospital performance and to support patients and families in choosing hospitals that best fit their healthcare needs.

“It’s an honor to be recognized for the excellent patient care we strive to deliver to our community every day,” said David Leighton, Administrator for Adventist Health Ukiah Valley. “We’re incredibly proud of our dedicated staff for this achievement and for continuing to provide quality care to the people of Mendocino County. We’re very fortunate to have an outstanding hospital and staff that provides local care to our community as a centralized hub in Northern California to care not only for those in Ukiah, but for our surrounding neighbors as well.”

The Opioid Care Honor Roll supports the continued efforts of California hospitals addressing the opioid epidemic and accelerate hospital progress to reduce opioid related deaths.

The Patient Safety Honor Roll offers Californians a rigorously evaluated list of hospitals that have consistently demonstrated a strong culture of safety across multiple departments, and the Maternity Care Honor Roll recognizes hospitals hitting a statewide target of low-risk C-sections.

“Improving the quality of patient care in hospitals is an ongoing process,” said California Health & Human Services Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly. “These annual measurements through Cal Hospital Compare help us to applaud those hospitals doing excellent work and show where improvement is needed. Many patients, providers, and staff are still reeling from the impact of COVID-19, from access to services, supplies, and staffing, so it is even more important to celebrate exemplary hospital performance.”
