What the End of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency Means for Your Healthcare

The federal government ended the nationwide public health emergency in response to COVID-19 on May 11, 2023.

As state and local mandates have also recently ended, we’ve adjusted some COVID-19 prevention guidelines around visitation and masking in many of our hospitals and medical offices.

We continue to prioritize your health and safety and want you to be confident in our care and have peace of mind when you are with us.

What it means to keep safety as the top priority

We are honored by the trust you placed in us during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, and we will continue providing safe, high-quality healthcare you can count on. It’s a commitment we make each day to every patient, including you and your family.

• While universal masking is no longer required in many of our hospitals and medical offices (check with your Adventist Health location for local policies on where masking is required), our healthcare providers will always wear appropriate protective equipment, including masks, when caring for patients with respiratory illnesses. We will also wear masks when caring for those at greater risk of contracting a viral infection.
• Each day, our teams adhere to uncompromising cleaning and disinfection practices that existed even before the pandemic began to reduce the risk of infection transmission.
• At every level of our organization, we work together to reduce infection rates and put processes and technology in place to ensure our patients are safe. We participate in numerous state and federal quality measurement programs to make sure these efforts are making a difference.
• We invite you to be an active part of your health team. Communication between Adventist Health providers, staff, patients and families helps ensure you experience your best health.
