Straight “A’s” for Patient Safety
November 6, 2023 – The Leapfrog Group, the national nonprofit upholding standards of excellence in patient safety in hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers, awarded Adventist Health Glendale an "A" Hospital Safety Grade for the eighteenth consecutive time.
This accolade recognizes Adventist Health Glendale as one of only 45 hospitals in the country to earn an “A” Grade continuously since 2015.
The Leapfrog Group assigns an “A” through “F” grade to all hospitals across the country based on over 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries, and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.
Only six other California hospitals have achieved as many consecutive “A” ratings. None of the 16 other hospitals within a 10-mile radius have more than two consecutive “A” ratings.
“We are thrilled once again to see our organization rated among the safest healthcare institutions in the country,” shared Adventist Health Glendale President Alice Issai. “Patient safety is at the heart of everything we stand for, and this rating reflects our unwavering commitment to providing exceptional care for our community."
“My sincere congratulations to the Adventist Health Glendale team for upholding patient safety standards through thick and thin, never wavering over the past eight years,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “This hospital clearly puts patients first, and the results are extraordinary.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and patient harm. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually in the fall and spring.
