Spiritual Care
Chaplaincy is an important part of the health care team and seeks to meet the religious, spiritual and emotional needs of patients, family members and staff. Chaplaincy reflects our hospital's commitment to care for the whole person.
Our chaplains are ordained ministers and are able to provide ministry services of a regular parish minister. Services include:
- Patient visitation.
- Prayer with those who seek comfort and guidance in times of difficult circumstances.
- Devotions and/or worship.
- Counseling upon request for patients, patients' families and medical staff. These might include issues concerning grief, spirituality or individual and family matters. This type of counseling is held in strict confidence.
- Spiritual support in times of stress and turmoil; contacting the patient's family, significant others and local clergy as requested.
- Collaboration with local clergy in facilitating visitation of their own hospitalized parishioners and serving as a bridge between the health care and the faith communities.
