About The Provider
Marcher Thompson, MD, is board-certified radiation oncologist who is passionate about walking alongside patients during their health journeys. She specializes in personalized therapeutic radiation treatments of all cancer types at AIS Cancer Center.
Inspired to pursue medicine at a young age, Dr. Thompson considers her career a calling. After completing her undergraduate degree at Princeton University, she earned her medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed an internship at Emory University. During her residency in radiation oncology at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, she served as chief resident.
She has published research in numerous peer-reviewed medical journals and has presented her findings at multiple national conferences.
Her expertise extends to various advanced radiation therapy techniques, including Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT), Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT), Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) and High-Dose-Rate (HDR) Vaginal Cuff Brachytherapy. Treatment is customized for each patient to deliver high doses of radiation to the cancer while minimizing any side effects to healthy tissue.
Dr. Thompson is proud to be part of AIS Cancer Center where she has the opportunity everyday to partner with medical teams and patients in Kern County and beyond to provide cutting edge treatment and care.
“Cancer can be frightening, and in my opinion the best weapon against fear is knowledge” Dr. Thompson said. “My goal is to provide patients the information they need to make informed decisions about their treatment, and to feel comfortable with radiation therapy.”
She is fluent in English and speaks conversational Spanish.
In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, movies, theater, and spending time with her husband and two miniature dachshunds.

Overall the Dr was open to questions and explained the procedure. The worst part of it was that it seemed repetitive as to questions and though they were willing to answer questions we still had very little information as to what was going the issues We were aware that it is cancer but not much past that
