Your Treatment Plan
Before you and your doctors select the breast cancer treatment plan that is right for you, it's important to know all the steps involved in your journey. The staff at the Adventist Health Glendale Cancer Center can help guide and support you through each stage of your initial diagnosis and throughout your treatment. We encourage you to ask any questions you may have. We are committed to your care.
Screening & Diagnosis
Before treatment for breast cancer can begin, an accurate diagnosis will be made by your physician. The Breast Cancer Program at AHGL offers advanced imaging for diagnosis to help with your proper care.
Once you have been diagnosed with breast cancer, our nurse navigator will contact you to arrange for a consultation with one of our specialists. They will evaluate your diagnosis to help you make an informed decision about your best treatment options.
Consultation
A consultation is an important meeting with your physician or nurse to learn more about your condition. Before your initial consultation:
- Write down any questions you may have.
- Bring a pen and paper with you for notes.
- If possible, bring a friend or family member with you. He/she can help you write things down, ask questions and remember information to share with you later.
At your consultation, please bring your insurance card(s) and a photo ID, copies of your imaging tests and reports (mammogram, ultrasound, MRI), and your pathology report.
You will also want to bring a list of all the medications you take, both by doctor’s prescription and over the counter, including vitamins and herbal supplements. Please include the name of the medication, the dosage and how often you take it.
Treatment
The treatment you receive will depend on the location, size and growth rate of your tumor. Our Breast Cancer Program care team will walk you through each step of the decision process. Treatments offered at AHGL include:
