Dual Diagnosis
Individuals who have a co-occurring mood or thought disorder along with an addiction, such as alcohol or drugs, will benefit from the dual diagnosis program at Adventist Health Glendale's Center for Behavioral Health & Recovery.
Participants spend a portion of the day in groups focused on mental wellness and the rest of the day in a group based on the 12-step model of addiction recovery. Treatment focuses on helping participants understand how their mental health and addiction issues are tied together, the importance of addressing both of them at the same time and helping them deal with the shame and guilt that often accompanies addiction. They will learn that to feel mentally well, they must remain sober, and to remain sober, they must feel mentally well.
To determine if this program is right for you, ask yourself the following questions:
- Are you dealing with the symptoms of a mood disorder, anxiety disorder or thought disorder?
- Do you have an addiction to alcohol, street drugs, prescription drugs, food or something else?
- Have the symptoms persisted despite treatment with an individual therapist and/or psychiatrist?
If you feel the above situation describes you, call (818) 409-8347 to speak to a mental health professional.
