Diabetes Care in Glendale
Prevention, education & treatment
Diabetes is on the rise and contributes to a host of other often life-threatening diseases and conditions such as heart disease, kidney failure, blindness and even amputation. It is critical to diagnose, treat and manage the disease as early as possible.
Our diabetes care program draws upon Adventist Health Glendale's expertise in medical treatment and lifestyle changes to give you the education and support you need to control your diabetes and live a healthy lifestyle.
Diabetes education
Certified diabetes educators and other staff members help you, both on an inpatient and outpatient basis, to enhance your self-management skills regarding diet and exercise, insulin and drug management, checking blood sugar levels, and other important aspects of living with diabetes.
We tailor recommendations for each patient according to their individual lifestyle, medical history, and other personal needs and situations. In addition, we follow up with patients through our outpatient diabetes care program.
Gestational diabetes care
For women who develop diabetes during pregnancy (gestational diabetes), we offer the Sweet Success program to provide diabetes management guidelines that are sensitive to the special needs of pregnant women and their babies.
Diabetes support group
Adventist Health sponsors an ongoing diabetes support and education group for adults with either type 1 or type 2 diabetes. Participants learn from one another, a certified diabetes educator and special guest speakers.
Diabetes screening
Because early detection of diabetes is so important, Adventist Health Glendale conducts periodic diabetes screenings and lectures in the hospital and at locations throughout the community.
