Aquatic Physical Therapy

The Aquatic Physical Therapy Program at Adventist Health Glendale (AHGL) provides care for patients with musculoskeletal conditions. Many patients who find it difficult to exercise on land find the therapeutic temperature of the water (90°-92°F) an ideal environment for loosening stiff joints and exercising weak muscles.

Conditions that may benefit from aquatic therapy include:

  • Herniated discs
  • Degenerative changes to the spine
  • Chronic pain syndromes
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Total joint replacement

Prerequisite:

Entry into Aquatic Physical Therapy at AHGL requires a physician referral (including diagnosis) for physical therapy followed by a clearance evaluation by a physical therapist at the AHGL Therapy & Wellness Center. All physical therapy visits are typically billable to insurance depending on coverage.

    Independent Pool Program

    The Independent Pool Program is open to participants who no longer need supervision while exercising, but still want to take advantage of the aquatic environment. After checking in and paying for your session, her are free to exercise independently. Typical sessions include a maximum of 50 minutes in the water. Please bring your own towel.

    Prerequisite:

    Entry into the program requires a physician referral (including diagnosis) for physical therapy followed by a clearance evaluation by a physical therapist at the AHGL Therapy & Wellness Center for a one-time cost of $282. This one-time cost includes two additional 30-minute training sessions in the aquatic environment.
