Adventist Health’s mission statement of Living God’s love by inspiring health, wholeness and hope is coupled with a vision to transform the health experience of our communities through collaborative programs, community investments and community outreach. We are inspired by the healing ministry as represented by the life of Jesus Christ and believe we are called to live out our mission intentionally in the communities we serve. In the small towns, suburbs and inner cities we serve, we continue our journey to provide quality healthcare until every person made in God’s image has experienced the best health today, hope for tomorrow, and God’s love that endures forever.

Adventist Health in the Central Valley has several community projects targeting obesity, diabetes, lung health, and mental health.

Adventist Health Reedley’s athletic trainer, Andy Taylor, partners with local high schools to provide sports physicals and support services to student athletes during games and practices. He is often accompanied by Dr. Verioti, orthopedic surgeon, and Larry Jones, director of rehabilitation services. Andy has been working with Hanford and Reedley schools to improve safe physical activity options and combat the obesity epidemic.

three men standing in front of football field Diabetes Among Friends, a five-week diabetes self-management education curriculum in English and Spanish from Scripps University, debuted in our rural health clinics in July 2017. During our 17 classes, 92 people graduated with new life skills to manage their diabetes and prevent long term complications of the disease.

The Better Breather's Club, which is the first and only lung health support group in Kings County, is available for anyone with a chronic lung disease including COPD, asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, sleep apnea, and undiagnosed lung diseases. Facilitated by Rebecca Russell, community wellness director, this group has been meeting monthly since March 2016. Members look forward to socializing with each other while learning about ways to improve their own lung health.

Every January, Kings and Tulare Counties partner for a homeless services day, called Project Homeless Connect. Adventist Health is proud to partner with our residency clinic and Project Homeless Connect in providing health screening to those in need who attend the annual event. This helps address access to care as well as provide services to homeless and mental health patients in our communities.
