Rideout Emergency Department
Expansion Details
Phase I (complete)
The Phase I expansion added 5,000 square feet to the existing 12,000 sq. ft. and created 13 multi-use ED/Observation beds, two Rapid Care exam rooms and an additional triage room in the facility, which now has 32 total beds. The much-anticipated expansion allows the ED to serve the needs of a growing community. Last year, the Rideout Emergency Department handled nearly 55,000 patient visits, in the space originally designed for only half that volume.
Phase II
The second and final phase of the expansion will be operational with the opening of the new Rideout Regional Medical Center hospital building; this will add another 3,000 sq. ft. and five additional beds. It also will be served by the new building's rooftop helipad for Life Flight operations. Rideout's Emergency Department is a Level III Trauma Center equipped and staffed to handle the most serious cases of heart attacks.
