Adventist Health’s mission statement of Living God’s love by inspiring health, wholeness and hope is coupled with a vision to transform the health experience of our communities through collaborative programs, community investments and community outreach. We are inspired by the healing ministry as represented by the life of Jesus Christ and believe we are called to live out our mission intentionally in the communities we serve. In the small towns, suburbs and inner cities we serve, we continue our journey to provide quality healthcare until every person made in God’s image has experienced the best health today, hope for tomorrow, and God’s love that endures forever.

physical theraphy In 2017, Adventist Health Sonora organized sports physicals for local high school athletes. The physical exams exceed the pre-participation requirements by providing an all-in-one visit with multiple physician specialists including cardiology, internal medicine, orthopedics, pediatrics and otolaryngology. Operating for three days in March, 550 students were served. Fifty percent of the fees collected were given back to the schools’ athletic departments. The other 50 percent of fees collected went into a reserve account for injured athletes, to help underinsured kids get the services they need. Adventist Health Sonora donated $16,076 through these services.

In addition, Adventist Health Sonora coordinated the Faith Community Nursing (FCN) Program. The program coordinator organized and supported 43 health minister volunteers from 27 different faith communities in Tuolumne and Calaveras counties. Through this program, health ministers work with their faith communities to provide a variety of health-related screenings, programs and visitations. These health ministers also help at community events such as health fairs and other community health outreaches. In 2017, Adventist Health Sonora invested $50,982 in this program, which supported 3,115 volunteer hours from the faith community health ministers. During these volunteer hours, 5,138 individuals were served in a variety of ways through the health ministers.
