Awards
QOPI® Certified - The Diana J. White Cancer Institute has been certified by the Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®) for successfully completing a three-year program for outpatient hematology-oncology practices and meeting nationally recognized standards for quality cancer care. When Adventist Health Sonora was presented with the QOPI® certification in early 2018, it joined and elite group of only 14 QOPI®-certified cancer centers in California.
Gold Seal from the American College of Radiology - The mammography program at Adventist Health Sonora has earned the gold seal of accreditation for more than a decade. The ACR’s gold seal of accreditation distinguishes high quality mammography programs for exceeding the requirements of standard accreditation.
Five Star Rating - Since 2018, Adventist Health Sonora’s Units 6 and 7 have received an overall rating of five out of five stars from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. A five star rating indicates much higher than average quality among nursing homes across the nation.
Energy Star Certification - In 2016, Adventist Health Sonora was one of just 229 hospitals in the nation to earn Energy Star certification, a designation awarded to commercial buildings that meet strict energy performance standards – using less energy and operating less expensively than their peers.
Reducing Hospital Acquired Conditions - The Collaborative Alliance for Nursing Outcomes (CALNOC) has recognized Adventist Health Sonora as a Performance Excellence Award winner for exemplary work in reducing hospital acquired conditions including: preventing moderate injury falls, preventing central line-associated blood stream infections, preventing catheter-associated urinary tract infections and preventing methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections.
Excellence in Perioperative Nursing - The Competency and Credentialing Institute awards the CNOR Strong designation to facilities with at least 50 percent of its operating room nurses CNOR certified. Adventist Health Sonora exceeds this requirement with 73 percent certified OR nurses.
Diligent Consulting Center of Excellence - Adventist Health Sonora achieved top-tier performance in providing safe patient mobility and was chosen as one out of 120 facilities across the country to serve as a model for other hospitals and health care systems. The Safe Transfer, Activity and Repositioning (S.T.A.R.) program and investment in Arjo's Diligent lifting and transferring systems increased safe mobilization for patients and residents while preventing workplace injuries for nurses and staff. The program has helped Adventist Health Sonora reduce patient-handling injuries to caregivers by up to 97 percent.
Center of Distinction - Adventist Health Sonora's Center for Wound Care has been placed among the top wound care centers in the nation and named a Center of Distinction every year since 2010. To attain this level of success, the Center for Wound Care has maintained excellent patient satisfaction and healing rates by providing outstanding care using advanced wound care modalities.
California Awards for Performance Excellence (CAPE) Eureka Award - The California Council for Excellence recognized Adventist Health Sonora as one of only four health care organizations to win for 2017, capturing a bronze-level award. The CAPE awards are modeled after the Malcom Baldrige National Quality Award program and applicants go through a rigorous three-month evaluation process that covers their performance in seven areas.
Patient Safety Excellence Award - Adventist Health Sonora earned the 2022 Patient Safety Excellence Award™ from Healthgrades®. This award recognizes hospitals in the top 10% in the nation for patient safety, with the lowest occurrences of 14 preventable patient safety events.
