Bariatric Surgery in Ukiah Valley
If you’re considering weight-loss surgery, we commend your desire to improve your health. Weight-loss surgery can be a crucial step to helping you regain your health and well-being. Surgery has been proven as an effective option for treating obesity when more conservative measures such as diet, exercise and medication have failed.
Weight-loss surgery can also contribute significantly to resolving other health issues such as Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, osteoarthritis, sleep apnea, cancer and gallbladder disease. This is in addition to regaining your quality of life. At Adventist Health Ukiah Valley, our goal is to provide you with the support you need, every step of the way.
We offer two types of procedures to our patients:
- Lap-Band: By using a silicone band to limit the available amount of space in your stomach, this surgery helps you to develop healthy eating habits that result in your body losing weight. Patients generally report feeling full faster and for longer periods. It is an outpatient procedure that is usually over in just a few hours.
- Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy: This surgery results in a permanent removal of a portion of the patient’s stomach, resulting in a physical inability to eat as much as the person had eaten before. Unlike the Lap-Band surgery, this procedure is irreversible and is only suggested for those who have a high risk of weight-related health concerns.
