Diana J. White Cancer Institute welcomes new hematology and medical oncology physician

November 2, 2020 (Sonora, Calif.) – Adventist Health Sonora is pleased to welcome Lin Soe, MD, MPHTM to the care team at the Diana J. White Cancer Institute. Dr. Soe is an experienced hematologist and medical oncologist who has cared for patients with cancer and blood diseases for more than 20 years.

Dr. Soe received fellowship training in hematology and oncology from UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento and completed residency training in internal medicine at Cornell University, New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens. He also earned a Master of Public Health and Tropical Medicine from Tulane University in New Orleans, and Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the Institute of Medicine in Rangoon, Burma.

“There is a tremendous need to serve patients with cancer,” Dr. Soe explains. “In return I receive the great reward of knowing my patients and their family very intimately.” Dr. Soe loves being able to earn the trust of his patients and work to alleviate their suffering. He partners with each patient to find the best possible solution for their unique circumstances and challenges.

For hematology patients, Dr. Soe provides bone marrow and blood analysis, bone marrow biopsy and treatment for blood and bone marrow diseases. For cancer patients, he provides genetic testing and analysis, genomic testing and analysis, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, palliative care and counseling of end of life issues.

“Dr. Soe is well-trained and very experienced and will enhance our ability to provide cancer care for adults in our community,” says Shane Tipton, FNP, PA-C, MS, Director of the Diana J. White Cancer Institute and medical oncology provider. “We are excited to have Dr. Soe on our team. His breadth of knowledge will help us gain additional certifications and continue to expand our oncology program.”

Dr. Soe has been married 34 years and has four grown children. Away from work he enjoys gardening, playing music and all kinds of exercise, especially hiking.
