Adventist Health Portland Named One of Most Socially Responsible Hospitals
The Lown Institute, a health care think tank, has named Adventist Health Portland one of the nation’s most socially responsible hospitals.
Adventist Health Portland ranks 15th of more than 3,000 hospitals nationwide and second for Oregon. This ranking is based on 54 metrics that span equity, value and outcomes.
The Lown Institute gave Adventist Health Portland “A” grades in many categories related to social responsibility, which culminated in an overall grade of “A.”
Adventist Health Portland received an “A” for equity based on the hospital’s commitment to inclusivity, pay equity and community investment. The “A” for value was based on avoiding unnecessary tests and procedures and achieving good clinical outcomes at a lower cost. Adventist Health Portland’s “A” for outcomes reflects success in clinical outcomes, patient safety and patient satisfaction.
