Sahana Vishwanath, MD, Allergist, Joins Adventist Health Medical Office in Fowler
August 2, 2022 (Fowler, Calif.) – Adventist Health Medical Office in Fowler is pleased to welcome Sahana Vishwanath, MD, Allergist & Immunologist, who joined our Adventist Health Medical Office in Fowler in August.
Fluent in Hindi, Kannada, Punjabi and English, Dr. Vishwanath has more than 10 years of experience diagnosing and treating patients with allergies in all age groups—pediatric, adult and geriatric. She commonly provides testing for a range of allergies, whether they are related to the environment, food, stinging insects or penicillin, and offers treatments for allergic rhinitis, asthma, food allergies, eczema, contact dermatitis, insect sting allergy, hives and angioedema, to name a few. She is adept at using the newer immunomodulators in treating patients with severe asthma, eczema, chronic urticaria making a significant impact in their lives. She is also proficient with primary immunodeficiency disorders, specifically humoral immunodeficiency and provides immunoglobulin supplementation.
Originally from Bangalore, India, Dr. Vishwanath completed her MD at Bangalore Medical College before moving to the United States. She attended the State University of New York at Buffalo where she completed both her Residency in Internal Medicine, and her Fellowship in Pediatric and Adult Allergy and Immunology. Her dedication to patients and fellow colleagues earned her two prominent awards—the Dr. Philip Goldstein MD Memorial Award and the Dr. Lawrence H. Golden MD Memorial Award. She comes to Adventist from New Jersey where she was practicing as a clinical Allergist Immunologist since 2014.
Dr. Vishwanath has earned certifications from both the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology, and is a member of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology; and the American Medical Association. In her effort to continually improve the lives of her patients, she pursues reading research studies and updating her knowledge. Her desire to help others inspired her to follow a career in medicine. “I enjoy having the ability to help someone feel better, and make a positive difference in their life,” she says. “It’s wonderful to build long-term relationships and act as a patient advocate.”
In her spare time, Dr. Vishwanath enjoys gardening, running, yoga, and traveling with her husband and 2 daughters.
