Samantha Burgess, PTA
Physical Therapist Assistant
Samantha Burgess likes to connect with her physical therapy patients in a way that makes them feel empowered and engaged in their own treatment. “My ultimate goal is that my patients get well in a fun, positive way,” she says.
After completing her physical therapist assistant program at Mount Hood Community College, Samantha went on to become a certified provider of Astym soft-tissue therapy. The main focus of her continuing education has been in the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT). She incorporates some manual techniques into her treatment, but her general approach is more exercise based.
A native Northwesterner, Samantha appreciates Portland’s laid back lifestyle and mild climate. She enjoys spending time with her family around the Northwest and considers her co-workers family too.
Joy Friedel, PTA
Physical Therapist Assistant
Physical therapy assistant Joy Friedel enjoys helping patients return to doing what they love. Whether it’s from injury, surgery or accident, recovery can be daunting and sometimes painful. Joy feels most engaged when she is connecting and laughing with her patients as well as challenging them in creative ways to make the rehab process fun. She works hard to ensure her patients feel heard and to develop individualized, compassionate and relevant care.
Joy earned a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Warner Pacific College pursuing a career in information technology and banking. She returned to school after having children to obtain her PTA degree from Mount Hood Community College. Joy brings with her experience in working with patients in a variety of settings including acute care and skilled nursing.
Joy is an avid hiker and recreational runner with a goal to complete the Pacific Crest Trail someday! She is a wife and mother who loves cheering on her children at their basketball and soccer games. Joy believes in giving back to the community of Corbett as a volunteer firefighter.
Eugene Medina, PT
Physical Therapist
Providing clients with high-quality care in a friendly and comfortable environment is a key goal as physical therapist Eugene Medina approaches his work each day. “I strive to establish treatment plans for clients on an individual basis because everyone has unique goals,” he explains.Eugene completed his Master of Physical Therapy degree at Loma Linda University in California. When he’s not busy at work, he enjoys spending time outside with his wife, sons and friends skiing, biking, camping and traveling.
Anne Murray, MSPT, MDT
Lead Physical Therapist
Physical therapist Anne Murray’s special training in a variety of therapies allows her to match the best therapies to each patient. She strives to create personal connections with patients and enjoys helping people get back to doing what they want to do.Murray earned her master’s degree in physical therapy from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. She has advanced certifications in several varieties of evaluations and therapies, including the McKenzie method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment; instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization - ASTYM (known as ASTYM, a technique that uses a special tool to break up scar tissue); and Selective Functional Movement Assessment.
As a native Oregonian, Murray couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. She enjoys working on her small farm, raising sheep and horses.
Brian Prokop, LPTA
Physical Therapist Assistant
Physical therapist assistant Brian Prokop feels blessed to make a positive, tangible impact on people’s lives every day. He strives to provide each patient with the kind of empathy, compassion, care and expertise that he would want for his own family.
Brian graduated from Mount Hood Community College Physical Therapist Assistant program in Gresham, Oregon. He focuses on sports medicine, with a special interest in treating the shoulder and knee. He also works with patients for balance and fall prevention. He has additional training in the McKenzie method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment and instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTYM). He also serves as a clinical instructor for students.
Highly active in his church, Brian is also an avid fisherman. He enjoys hiking, skiing, cycling and landscaping.
Dean Romine, DPT
Physical Therapist
Physical therapist Dean Romine believes in teamwork. By working together, Romine helps patients get back to their favorite activities faster. This partnership starts with a personalized care plan for each patient.
Romine earned his doctorate degree in Physical Therapy at the University of Montana in Missoula. His area of focus is joints, bones and muscle tissue and how they all work together. He enjoys working with athletes across the life span. He is skilled at several types of physical therapy, including manual therapy, myofascial release and the McKenzie Method.
Romine enjoys outdoor activities such as skiing, hiking, camping, playing Ultimate, a disc game like touch football. He also likes to sample different styles of food among Portland’s many restaurants.
