OHSU Maternal-Fetal Medicine Delivered at Adventist Health Portland
Through our innovative partnership with OHSU, maternal-fetal medicine (MFM) physicians from OHSU offer consultations and reading advanced ultrasounds for patients with high-risk pregnancies in Portland’s eastside communities on the Adventist Health Portland campus.
OHSU MFM specialists are on our campus weekly. Your regular ob-gyn can refer you to our specialists anytime they’re needed.
Consultations for high-risk pregnancies
Consultation with these OHSU specialists are valuable for women who have medical illnesses or increased risk for genetic complications, such as:
- A family history of genetic disease.
- Maternal age above 35.
Advanced obstetric ultrasounds
Specialized fetal imaging at Adventist Health Portland now includes:
- First trimester dating and nuchal translucency measurement.
- Second trimester anatomy survey.
- Third trimester growth scans, Doppler and biophysical profile.
- Fetal tissue examination (typically placental tissue and/or amniotic fluid).
Collaborative care for moms and babies
The OHSU maternal-fetal medicine team is committed to partnering with you and your primary obstetrician to guide you through your high-risk pregnancy. After an initial consult, most patients return to their primary OB provider for ongoing prenatal care.
If you and your baby need additional care, we will work with you and your provider to make sure you get the follow-up care you need and can plan your delivery at the hospital that best fits your needs. This includes hassle-free access to OHSU Doernbecher’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) if needed.

Meet the OHSU maternal-fetal medicine team
Dr. Pereira specializes in preterm birth, prenatal diagnosis, ultrasound, fetal transfusions and shunt placements.
After completing medical school at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Dr. Pereira pursued his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Pennsylvania Hospital. He went on to become certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and complete a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at the Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University.
Dr. Lo believes each pregnancy and birth experience is unique and requires individualized care. She finds satisfaction in helping women achieve a healthier pregnancy and delivery, especially those who may otherwise not be able to safely have children. Her current research focus is on the effect of maternal substance use and other environmental factors on placental development and offspring outcomes in pregnancy.
After medical school at Oregon Health & Science University and an OB/GYN residency at University of Utah Health Science Center, Dr. Lo returned to OHSU to get a Master of Clinical Research degree and complete a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine.
Dr. Paré’s specialties include medical complications in pregnancy, such as cardiac disease in pregnancy.
She completed medical school at the Université Laval in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. She went on to complete a fellowship in obstetrics and gynecology at the Université de Montréal and another in maternal-fetal medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
